Family Must-Do's
Its pleasant climate, easy access and a lot of good places to hang around make Mount Abu a favorite holidaying destination for families. Located more than 1200 meters above the sea-level, it affords a cool climate, unlike the rest of the state and is hence a cool retreat from city life. The town has a lot many places that thrive in wildlife, which makes the place especially exciting for kids. Many mysterious caves dotting the land make it an interesting place for treks and tours. Enjoy a nice fun-filled holiday here with your entire family.

Things to See
  • Dilwara Temples: Made completely of marble and adorned with rich carvings, these are several in number and are dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras. The main temple of these, dedicated to the first Tirthankara, is known as Vimal Vasahi. This temple has a large image of the main deity Rishabhdev and 52 other smaller shrines dedicated to different Tirthankaras. The temple is open from sunrise to sunset, but photography is not permitted.

  • Gaumukh Temple: Literally meaning “from the mouth of the cow”, this temple derives its name from a natural spring, which flows out of a carved cow head.

  • Adhar Devi Temple: This temple is dedicated to the serpent goddess, Arbuada. It is carved out of a single rock and can be reached only after a climb of 360 stairs.

  • Shri Raghunathji Temple: This temple is dedicated to Lord Raghunath and houses an idol, which was placed there by Shri Ramanand, the famous scholar and preacher.

  • Nakki Lake: It is the most recognized feature of this hill retreat. It is set in the hills and is believed to have been carved out of the nails of Gods, hence the name nakki. It is the only artificial lake in India at a height of 1200 mts and is a popular spot for boating.

  • Sunset Point: This place provides splendid view of the landscape and has an amusement park for kids.

  • Guru Shikhar: The highest peak in Mount Abu, it stands at a height of 1722 mts and offers picturesque views of the town.

  • Achalgarh: This is a majestic fort in Mount Abu, and houses ancient Jain Temples within it. The two major temples here are Achaleswar Mahadev Temple and the Kantinath Jain Temple.

  • Honeymoon Point: Needless to say, it derives its name from the number of honeymoon couples that frequent it, especially at sunset. Also called Andra Point, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.

  • Raj Bhavan Museum and Art Gallery: Not very huge, but it has an interesting array of artifacts dating from the 8th century to the 12th century.

  • Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary: The sanctuary is located in the Aravalli range and is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including a range of endangered and rare species. Also located here is the Trevor’s Tank, which is located in a thick wooded area and is a popular spot for viewing peacocks and patridges. A sheer delight for kids!
